Association Life and Member Benefits

AFMD offers various types of events and resssorces tailored to EDI managers.

Our formats are designed around our members’ needs, and the approaches we take vary depending on the objectives. These may include exploring a specific topic in depth, comparing experiences, sharing knowledge and best practices, or examining different perspectives.

A Committed Community Working Towards a More Inclusive Work World

Joining AFMD means much more than becoming part of a professional network: it means joining a community built on mutual support, shared learning and innovation, dedicated to preventing discrimination and transforming management practices.

This community is open to all professionals responsible for equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) within their organisations: D&I directors, project managers, equality and/or accessibility directors, HR directors, and more. By harnessing collective intelligence, encouraging peer exchange, and grounding our work in scientific research, we have designed a comprehensive framework to support you in your role.

At the heart of our association life, the Community format enables you to connect with peers and discuss shared challenges. In addition to key events such as the General Assembly and conferences presenting our latest work, the AFMD community meets virtually every week for the "AFMD Café", an informal 30-minute session to catch up, ask questions, and share successes with other members.

Members also have access to a dedicated helpline, allowing them to contact the AFMD team for introductions to other members, benefit from valuable peer feedback, and access a wide range of insightful resources.

The impact of the AFMD Community is tangible: 93% of our members say they feel less alone in their role thanks to AFMD.

The "Tremplin" formatPhoto de groupe

Designed for professionals who have recently stepped into their role, or for organisations beginning to structure their EDI strategy, the Tremplin format provides an opportunity to explore the fundamentals of diversity, equity, and inclusion policies.

Through one-hour webinars, members can engage with experts and strengthen their foundations, whether by deepening their knowledge of key topics or by developing practical skills directly relevant to their role.

A format that delivers results: 76% of members say they have a clearer understanding of their EDI priorities thanks to AFMD, and 83% feel better prepared to meet the scope of their responsibilities.

Three topics are explored each year. In 2026, we will cover:

  • What is “gender equality conditionality”, a key concept for advancing gender equality, and how can it be implemented within your organisation?

  • Measuring diversity: legal frameworks and self-identification practices

  • Discrimination: current landscape and key insights

The "Booster" format

Our members are talented, and the Booster Pathway shines a spotlight on their expertise.

Designed to foster peer exchange and highlight best practices, this pathway helps members strengthen their skills and approach the implementation of EDI policies with confidence.

Over the course of a 90-minute session, participants hear testimonials from fellow members and engage in discussions about their practices.

These collective sessions help turn ideas into action: 63% of members have introduced new processes (in HR, communications, governance, and more) drawing on AFMD’s resources.

In 2026, discussions will focus on the following topics:

  • How can the European Pay Transparency Directive be implemented in practice?

  • Diversity and Inclusion: (re)naming the function

  • Visibility of complaints and sanctions: designing communication that is both sensitive and effective

The "Innovation" format

Do you already feel at ease with the “core” topics of EDI policies? Are gender equality, disability inclusion, and intergenerational management familiar ground?

Then why not try the Innovation format?

Through in-person workshops, this format invites you to explore the issues of tomorrow. Over the course of a half-day session, AFMD members work alongside experts to engage with emerging topics that are not yet widely addressed within organisations, but are likely to become increasingly important. For example, as early as 2022, we introduced the concept of intersectionality to our members through this format.

Stay ahead of the curve! 83% of members believe their involvement in the association enables them to drive innovation on EDI topics.

This year, we will explore the following topics:

  • The future of EDI: from hypotheses to scenarios

  • Misogynoir, Arab misogyny… rethinking experiences of sexism beyond whiteness

  • Applying the AFMD impact assessment method: first steps
